HOME BREW ANTENNA
AND
SETUP FOR
KBARA AUDIO STREAMING
KD7AAT (John)
For the 2m antenna, a hole was drilled in the top of a 1" pvc cap for an SO-239. The coax connector was screwed to the SO-239 then bolted to the cap. The coax was fed through a 3/4" coupling and put inside the cap, then the mast into the coupling. The coax with connector was fed through all of the pvc pieces before gluing then mounted. Since this is a receive only antenna, no radials were needed. The vertical is a piece of copper wire 1' 6" long soldered to the center conductor of the SO-239. The coax is then fed to an Icom IC-281H provided by John (W7OE).
The audio output from the radio is first fed into a ROLLS DB25b Direct Box for impedance matching and hum reduction. That signal is fed into an audio mixer and sent to the input of a dedicated computer. Streaming software by BroadWave takes the audio from the radio, and audio files for the podcasts and sends them through the Internet connection for your listening pleasure. Below are pictures of the antenna during construction, mounted, and the "studio" providing the streaming.
